Fails and Saves

This information captured in video and in words may help you become a better pilot, or you posting here might save another pilot from the same situation. If your not afraid of your fails being known, post them here. Of Course USHPA also has a process for reporting accidents, and near misses please use that process as appropriate for the situation. You may save another pilot from injury or even save their life by what you post here:

Fails:

This area is for some noteworthy epic fail that taught you something. Distill your thoughts to make it clear concise about what happened and the learning you received.

-I have a personal example – I could make that bad launch I had at The Sac! where it was a nose pop but I saved it luckily. Scared me onto a path of more learning to perfect launches.

-Another one I might post there would be ramp suck at Harris Hill where Ron Kittredge almost got ran over by me as the glider got sucked off the hill by a gust.

The video Romano had of someone at Ellenville where there was a skiver of snow on the HG wing upper surface that caused the glider to not glide, but control badly and stall falling into the trees.

Until this type of stuff happens you don’t even think it is a possibility…very enlightening for newer pilots.
